Deze sessie, georganiseerd door Mondiaal FNV, het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, CNV Internationaal en Fair Wear Foundation, belicht hoe de EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) productieketens verandert en vooruitgang boekt op leefbare lonen en fatsoenlijk werk. We delen eerste inzichten uit een door het ministerie gefinancierd programma, gebaseerd op input van vakbonden, werkgevers en overheden in productielanden.

‘Workers’ agency in Indian garment factories’ at the OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector – online via Zoom

This session on worker’s agency in Indian garment factories explores how Works Committees (WCs) can address workplace issues to the benefit of workers. Additionally, we will discuss why relying solely on WCs is not enough and highlight the irreplaceable role of trade unions in amplifying worker voices. Learn from the Indian experience and gain valuable insights applicable to other countries with similar workplace social dialogue structures that can make a positive impact in the garment industry, for factory workers and management, when properly set up and run.

On the 14th of February, Mondiaal FNV is hosting an online side session at the 2025 OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector. Our colleague Dimple Sokartara-Pamudji will moderate a discussion on gender equality and female representation in the garment industry.

Speakers from Indonesia, Ethiopia, and Turkey will share their perspectives on the challenges and solutions for a more inclusive and fair sector.
